📢 No Major COVID Surge in India, Just Sporadic Cases — Government Monitoring Situation Closely

Despite recent COVID-19 positive cases reported in Delhi and a few other states, health experts and the Ministry of Health confirm there is no cause for panic. The country currently has 257 active cases, most of which are mild and manageable at home.

“Hospitals remain alert but no major COVID spike reported.”


🏥 Experts: “No ICU Cases, No Panic Needed”

Dr. Suranjit Chatterjee from Indraprastha Apollo Hospital confirmed,

“At the moment, the situation is under control. We are only seeing sporadic cases, and even these are not serious. No ICU admissions so far.”

He emphasized that COVID-19 may now behave like seasonal flu, easily treatable in most cases.

According to the Union Health Ministry, the breakdown is as follows:

  • India’s active cases: 257
  • Delhi: 23 confirmed cases
  • Other affected states: Haryana, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh

🔍 Dominant Variant: Omicron JN.1

This wave is led by the JN.1 subvariant of Omicron, causing mild symptoms such as:

  • Low-grade fever
  • Sore or dry throat
  • Cough & headache
  • Mild diarrhea
  • Tiredness & runny nose

Rarely, vulnerable individuals may experience shortness of breath or vomiting.


🛡️ Government Advisory in Place

The Health Ministry has advised hospitals to be prepared with:

  • Functional ventilators, BiPAP, oxygen supply
  • COVID-19 vaccines & booster stock
  • Daily reporting of ILI and SARI cases on the IHIP portal
  • Refresher training for all dedicated medical staff
